bio expertise

Measuring environmental impacts has been at the heart of BIO’s work for more than 20 years.
BIO’s working methods with regards to measuring and processing environmental information have long been recognised by public institutions including the European Commission, government ministries, environmental agencies, etc., as well as by private operators, environmental NGOs and national and international research centres.
Unique expertise in methodology design
BIO carried out the first Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and drew up the first High Environmental Quality criteria (HQE, a French standard) in France. Our experts took part in the work that led to the drafting of a series of ISO 14040 standards on LCAs and ISO 14020 and 14021 regarding the environmental information on products. They also participated in standard-setting work with AFNOR and the British Standard Institute.
In addition, BIO is an active participant in the work of the ADEME-AFNOR platform, who is preparing an environmental labelling system in France.
Expertise with tools for quantifying environmental impacts
BIO has carried out more than 500 LCAs, and this experience means it continues to offer reliable environmental assessments with strong added value. Using calculation tools specially built according to the scenarios of each sector, subsidiary or player, BIO seeks to identify areas of improvement for its clients. BIO is also accredited by ADEME to carry out Bilan Carbone® carbon assessments.
As an active participant in the process, making propositions and innovations, BIO develops exclusive approaches in collaboration with its clients, particularly focusing on environmental and eco-design analysis tools. Designed to be flexible and accessible to all types of users, these tools reinforce BIO’s specific expertise in the field of measuring environmental impacts.
bio vision

All products and services, and all purchasing and investment decisions have an impact on the environment.
If organisations have access to quantified, robust and recognised indicators, this forms a crucial lever for helping them progress in terms of knowledge, control and reduction of their environmental impacts.
The most effective way to manage these environmental issues is to draw on reliable and pertinent data, particularly when the aim is to improve the environmental performance of the organisation’s activity, products or decisions.
BIO offers tailor-made solutions, based on scientific expertise and adapted to the specific needs of each of its clients. Our role is to provide our clients with the data and tools that will help them define their progress objectives and make strategic or operational decisions.
