Energy and climate change

BIO Intelligence Service provides decision makers in both the public and private sectors with the information and recommendations they need to put in place and manage their greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategy.

As a specialist in the questions of eco-design and energy efficiency, BIO carries out product and policy analyses in order to propose concrete solutions that ensure progress. These technical and environmental impact studies assess the cost/benefits ratio of initiatives using a life cycle approach.

BIO develops minimum energy performance standards, in order to eliminate the poorest performers in both products and policies; and incentive tools designed to promote the best efforts.

White Paper on adapting to climate change

BIO Intelligence Service contributed to the creation of Adapting to Climate Change, the White Paper published by the European Commission in April 2009.

The aim of this report was to define a European framework for strategic action, in order to anticipate the effects of climate change and prepare for them.

This was needed because issues surrounding the effects of climate change in the different regions of Europe are evolving rapidly, and whilst most of these regions are aware of the need to adapt, this awareness has not yet reached a level where concrete actions are undertaken. Furthermore, the effects of climate change vary according to the geographic location of the territories, as well as their vulnerability. The range of sectors affected is also extremely vast and includes the energy sector, agriculture and biodiversity, human and animal health, water resources, tourism, and many more.

As part of this project, BIO was chosen to conduct impact studies and investigate the following topics: agriculture, biodiversity, land and forest use.
