Com’éco Impact is a project that BIO Intelligence Service is leading in partnership with the communications agency Aggelos, and with the financial support of the ADEME and the Aquitaine Regional Council.

The objective of this project is to provide communications professionals with a tool for evaluating the environmental impacts of their communications initiatives relating to the creation and dissemination of communications projects in a number of industries: publishing, the internet, events management, show stand design and promotional items.

It is now possible for communications agencies to evaluate the environmental impacts of their marketing products and services, and for decision makers to identify the environmental issues associated with a communications project and better define the environmental considerations to be included in their specifications.

In the beta version currently available for publishing projects, the user is invited to complete the data fields in order to describe the publishing project step by step:

  • Project phase;
  • Design/production;
  • Dissemination;
  • End of life.

An environmental assessment based on four indicators, namely water, waste, energy and greenhouse gas emissions, is then calculated according to the data provided.

In addition, the tool makes ecodesign suggestions at every stage in the process.

Subsequent developments in the tool will aim to include the following communications-related activities:

  • Distributing promotional items;
  • Creating a stand;
  • Organising an event;
  • Creating a website.

The beta version of the tool for publishing projects is available at no charge here: www.comeco-impact.com
