BIO Intelligence Service has developed the eco-simulator, a simple tool that allows you to calculate the environmental impacts of a pair of jeans, based on consumer choices.
On the screen users can see the impacts associated with a number of choices: organic or conventional cotton; frequency of washing and tumble drying; how long the garment is kept; what is done with it at the end of its life.
This tool is based on the results of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), summarised in the study conducted for the ADEME, entitled “An Environmental Product Declaration of Jeans – What to do to reduce the environmental impacts of one’s pair of jeans”.
